During Tropical Storm/Hurricane Irene, this East Main St view towards the Westborough MA rotary from Prospect Street was displayed.
This was an experiment. I’did it so my kids can “check in” on home.
It was an interesting experiement. This was the first time I used Livestream, and it was very easy to set up and use. And the price was right….
Not exactly “Professional Grade.”I used a regular webcam, fashioning a mount for it. This external webcam has an “ON” light, and this had to be covered at night minimizing reflection.
Power did become an issue. When power was lost, the laptop had a couple hours, and my FiOS connection dropped. I quickly used a simple inverter powering the laptop, and a Wireless MiFi connection.
At the peak, the site had 19 viewers…and that’s more kids than I know about!
Overall, everything worked very well for something cobbled together with parts around the house.
