One of the things I love about Asian food if the freshness of the ingredients, and the use of vegetables.

Anh Thu is a Vietnamese restaurant in Worcester on Park Avenue.  Anh Thu means strong in Vietnamese, and is the name of the eldest child (who was waiting tables on a return visit!)  Clearly a family run business.

It’s a small place, some place you might drive by regularly and not really notice…tucked between a Bank of America ATM and a shuttered building.  The tables are all covered with table dressings, covered with plastic.  What the place might lack in ambience is made up for with the food.

The food is really quite fresh and a welcomed change of pace from processed foods.

Our meal started with fresh spring rolls with steamed pork and shrimp rolled with vegetables in fresh rice paper.  The vegetables were crisp to the bite, and quite delicious dipped in the accompanying peanut oil.

My entrée was an interesting presentation of crispy fried egg noodles served with a choice of seafood, chicken, beef, pork, tofu or vegetables.  The crispy fried egg noodles reminded me of a bird’s nest!  I had options for the seafood, and went with scallops and shrimp.  The scallops were perfectly prepared as were the shrimp.  The vegetables were crisp…not raw…really nicely prepared.

The other entrée at the table was a tofu stir fry.  The tofu was stir fried with onions and a hint of chili and lemongrass.

Take a look at the pictures and enjoy the food presentation!

I really enjoyed my visit to this interesting little restaurant.  A friend’s daughter recently spent some time in Vietnam, chronicled in her blog.  Her views on this country are a fascinating read.
